Since I've been experiencing an Across the Universe obsession lately and I get so see my honey this weekend, this song basically sums up my life right now.

Leapster: Wall-E
I know I don't have kids but that doesn't stop me from keeping up with the latest toys. Tonight Steven and I were going through the toy section at Target and we stumbled upon the Wall-E game for Leapster. I love Leapster and I love Wall-E so automatically a great combo, but what made this game so great was the fact that it not only taught kids spelling and numbers but also taught them how to recycle! It had a whole section for sorting recyclables...how awesome is that?
Can I just have a kid already so that I can buy them toys just so that I can play with them?

How come no one told home-girl that One Tree Hill was back on?
We're already 4 episodes in people!
Everything is oh so the drama:
1. Nanny Carrie is back, ugh. I hate her. And how am I feeling bad for Dan. Can that be possible? Last season I was wishing him dead. However is mind manipulation skills are going to come in handy with the Carrie situation.
2. Victoria is also back and sending people to attack her own daughter... yeah but we've learned that messing with B. Davis is always a bad idea.
3. And most exciting of all: LUCAS CHOSE PEYTON! All I can say is I knew it, knew it, knew it.
4. I think Quentin might be cheating on his Les Mes papers...we will see.
5. Jaimie is the cutest kid ever.

Mama Mia!
A co-worker and I went to the movies to see Mama Mia this afternoon. I thoroughly enjoyed myself! To begin with, I love musicals. Sadly musical lovers are a dying breed it seems, but I will keep the fire for song and dance alive. Laughs.
The story was great, the setting in Greece was gorgeous, and the best part? Watching Mrs. Weasley sing and dance! Colin Firth wasn't half bad either.
Entertaining ABBA adventure.

The Mafioso.

Oliver has never really paid much attention to the TV but today he sat right in front of the TV and watched the Godfather for a good 10 minutes. Apparently we both like Mob movies.

And tell me how I never made the connection that the studly Marlon Brando from Streetcar Named Desire is actually THE GODFATHER! How have I missed that? Gosh he was gorgeous, wasn't he?

Peak of Perfection
After James and Caitlin's Wedding (a post is coming about that soon: cross my heart) Steven and I went to go see Batman: The Dark Knight. The oh- so- beautiful Christian Bale was fabulous, but it was Heath Ledger that stole the show. He was AMAZING as the Joker! I honestly think it was his best role. Normally, Heath Ledger played the guy next door but in this movie he really pushed himself to a level of dark and twisted that was believable and frightening. It is a common idea that the artists who die in their prime are eternally brilliant because we never see them deteriorate, that is what Heath Ledger did with this role. If you haven't seen this, it is very worth it. I heard a few rumors that it was scary but this scaredy cat didn't think so. Great action, great costumes, great story line, great acting. A+

Clearly, I'm A Middle-Aged Man
I never use my e-mail account back home because I don't live there anymore. Whenever I'm in town, and feeling spunky, I like to check my inbox and gander at all the lovely spam. Besides the regular erectile aids I totally need, there was: "How to grow a Kangaroo in 2 days" (really not sure how or why that would ever need to be an e-mail) and "Angelina Jolie XXX video."
My first porn solicitation, how sweet.
I had a good laugh, as always. Now, if only I found her the slightest bit attractive or needed a kangaroo post- haste.

September Is Going To Be A Good Month!

So! The day before my 1 year anniversary with Steven, ONE TREE HILL starts up again for it's 6th season. How excited am I? Oh man!
So should I start taking bets for who Lucas proposed to? I'm hoping against hope that it's Peyton. If it is Brooke that isn't going to end well for P. Sawyer and B. Davis. Unless Brooke actually honors their pact of hoes/clothes before bros. Hmm...
PS- Lucas Eugene Scott is the biggest idiot in the world if it isn't Peyton and 3/4 of the cast will tell him that. Even if it is P. Sawyer you know any wedding will get postponed by Dan's dumb heart condition. Ugh. The drama.

All We Are Saying Is Give Peace A Chance.
A little birdie passed this youtube clip of Charlie Chaplin in a movie called "The Great Dictator" to me. I thought it was magnificent. It's what I've always thought and what I've always tried to live.
I thought that John Lennon also seemed appropriate. Here is one of my favorite songs, that I also used as the title to this post. This particular video was recorded during a war protest where he and Yoko did a "sleep in" for their honeymoon. There is some other footage of different protests where his song was sung. I ::heart:: him.

We're After The Same Rainbow's End.

So I suddenly had the realization that my life seems to be gradually turning into Audrey Hepburn's Breakfast at Tiffany's. Not that I mind because Audrey is my home-girl and I adore her. I'm slowly accumulating all her movies, and I dig um. I also love the song she sings in Tiffany's called Moon River.
It is short, but sweet. If you notice, the gentleman at the beginning writes: "My Friend. There was once a very lovely, very frightening girl. She lived alone except for a nameless cat." I'm also inclined to believe that Audrey Hepburn is the only woman who looks extremely fabulous with a towel wrapped around her head while wearing a baggy gray sweat shirt, skinny jeans, and black ballet flats. This is going to be my outfit of choice, minus the towel, for the fall. I can feel it. Hey, if Audrey can do it and get away with it, I can to. If everything goes well I'll get a little ring from a crackerjack box, get it engraved at Tiffany's, dance with Fred Astaire, sing in My Fair Lady, fall for the older brother played by Humphrey Bogart (and we all know the older brother is Steve, and I think Bogie would do him justice in a movie. They're both mysterious) and eventually work for UNICEF helping all the starving children. Works for me. Where do I sign up for the Audrey Hepburn fast track?

I love my kitty daddy cause hez my sugar daddy.
This weekend was fabulous! Even though it was far too short... but that cannot be helped. It got me thinking about a OTH episode in the third season where Peyton goes to visit Jake and talks about how the day before she has to leave feels like Sunday. You know that feeling you get on a Sunday that school starts tomorrow so the whole last day of the weekend is ruined thinking about how the weekend is over. That's kind of how my weekend was, only I was trying not to think about it. Steven is fabulous, as always. I dropped Oliver off at the pet-sitters on Friday and he had a great time, he has a little girlfriend now named Cleo. He is not a fan of dogs, but we will work on that some more since Steven and I will eventually be getting a dog.
Saturday Steven, his mother (M.J.), and I went shopping. Basically, I went to see Steven just so I could mercilessly torture him... ;) He hates shopping, but he was a trooper! We started off the day at Ikea, my favorite place for fabulous modern furniture. I have really needed a dresser so I picked one up:

I still need to put it together after I take it piece by piece out of my car...
I got some lamps and an awesome deal on compact flourescents, 3 packs of "60W" for $1.99. This is why I love Ikea.
After Ikea we went to the Ralph Lauren Outlet and I got an oxford shirt for $24! That's pretty unheard of. I love Ralph Lauren but I normally cannot afford his clothes. I'm gradually picking things up when they are ridiculously on sale. So far I have this new shirt and a skirt I got for $15 last summer.
Steven and I went to the movies Saturday night after getting some slushies at 7/11. We went to go see Wall. E. I HIGHLY recommend that everyone go see it! Pixar has outdone themselves again! So cute, romantic, and environmentally aware. Steven and I both love kids movies! This is probably because we're both still kids at heart. To be honest, I love that about us.
This morning we were going to go play Putt-putt but the place was closed... bummer! We will have to go next time I'm in town, whenever that is. Since there was no putt-putt, we got lunch at a cute little pizza place. We got the white pizza, our favorite.
This weekend was so much fun! I really miss Steven. I miss how goofy he is and how goofy I am when I'm with him. I also love how much crap we give each other. I know, it's a weird thing to love about a relationship. He gave me crap when he found out I refer to him as Oliver's daddy. Well...he is. What's mine is his, right? And I gave him crap about how lonely the ring finger on my left hand is. My favorite discussion about that:
Me: I love my new shirt!
Him: Well if you love it so much why don't you marry it?
(a few minutes pass)
Him: It's almost like I love you, or something.
Me: Well if you love me so much why don't you marry me?
I am aware this is a low blow, but good times.
This Wednesday is our 10 month anniversary! And I'm so excited! Want to know what he got me for 10 months? That super cute dress I've been wanting, as well as some money to get him a tie that matches it. Have I mentioned lately how madly and completely in love I am with this boy? Not just cause he spoils me, but because he makes me believe I deserve to be.

I broke down...

...and went on a quest to get a copy of Persuasion with Amanda Root as Anne Eliot. I found it at Barnes and Noble on sale for $10 (score). Now, it is no secret that I am a HUGE Jane Austen fan, (huge is putting it lightly) but after checking this movie out from my local library I have watched it 4 times. 4. I have an inkling that once I finish writing this I'm going to watch it again. That would make 2 times today. Why am I so obsessed with this movie? Because it is so brilliant, poignant, and down right captivating. When I read the book I read and re-read Captain Wentworth's letter to Anne, over and over and over again. The first time I read it I cried because it was so brilliantly written and is one of the great, great, moments in the story and the language is SO beautiful and Wentworth parallels Anne's conversation with Captain Harvel perfectly! Persuasion might be over-taking Pride and Prejudice in my line-up of best Austen novel... Heck, they're all amazing (however I do have some doubts about Mansfield Park). That letter is just so beautiful I have to find it and share it on here. Enjoy:
as are within my reach. You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half
hope. Tell me not that I am too late, that such precious feelings are gone
for ever. I offer myself to you again with a heart even more your own,
than when you almost broke it eight years and a half ago. Dare not say
that man forgets sooner than woman, that his love has an earlier death.
I have loved none but you. Unjust I may have been, weak and
resentful I have been, but never inconstant. You alone have brought
me to Bath. For you alone I think and plan. - Have you not seen
this? Can you fail to have understood my wishes? - I had not waited
even these ten days, could I have read your feelings, as I think you
must have penetrated mine. I can hardly write. I am every instant
hearing something which overpowers me. You sink your voice, but I
can distinguish the tones of that voice, when they would be lost on others.
- Too good, too excellent creature! You do us justice indeed. You do
believe that there is true attachment and constancy among men. Believe
it to be most fervent, most undeviating in
F.W.
I must go, uncertain of my fate; but I shall return hither, or follow
your party, as soon as possible. A word, a look will be enough to decide
whether I enter your father's house this evening or never.
I'm in raptures...

The. Movie.

I got into Sex And The City very late in life. I watched my first episode my freshmen year of college for a City in Literature course, and I have been hooked ever since! I was a little doubtful about a movie, but I went out and saw it anyway. I was not disappointed. I used to relate so much to Carrie, but I realized today that I have completely become a Charlotte. That might not mean anything to anyone, but to me it means a lot. What I'm about to say contains a spoiler, so skim if you want....but BABY! Charlotte finally gets to experience motherhood. We all know that she adopted at the end of season 6, but in the movie she is pregnant after years of fertility problems. And since I'm in the same boat always wanted kids but possibly not being able to have them... it made me so happy for her! And there is one fabulous scene where she tells off Mr. Big... fabulous, just fabulous. And Charlotte actually gets angry in this movie! You know you're in the wrong when Charlotte York gets mad at you. Laughs. And her apartment... oh my, I envy it.
Anyways, great movie! Fabulous fashion! Really great wrap up to things. I want to see it again!

Seriously?
What is wrong with this boy?I picked up One Tree Hill hardcore this season. I had only seen an episode here and there before season 5. I watched every one this season. And I want to know...why the last episode they just leave us hanging about who Lucas calls to run away to Vegas with!
Seriously?
I can't wait for next season. Someone get me Chad Michael Murray's cell number so I can seduce him then ask him myself, laughs.
Just kidding.
But if it isn't Peyton I think I'm giving up the habit...as much as I love Brooke and all... And if it is Lindsay...I'm definitely done with OTH.
I know, useless drama, but it's a good escape for 40 minutes.
