Brides

My best friend got me a gag subscription to Brides for Christmas.
The more I read it, the more I'm like...I just want to elope.

well, it certainly doesn't help that they always always always choose the most expensive products. $2,000 for 100 invitations? heck yeah that's reasonable! why, even $5,000 isn't out of the question!
after all, you're supposed to have a minimum of $25,000 to $30,000 to spend! gotta blow it all somehow!

Right on! Keep it simple. Seriously, including my dress we spent about $500 on my wedding (though that does not include travel expenses). I don't ever wish it was more costly. Granted, I did have some help. We did potluck food (what did I care what the food was, as the bride you don't get to eat it anyway... I still don't know what was served at my reception) where we asked a few friends to bring things. My best friend made the wedding cake as a gift to us. Another good friend made the back up sheet cake. A good friend of the family through the church was the DJ at the youth dances so as his wedding gift to us he was our DJ. A friend gifted us a guest book. The church was free (so was the temple for the actual wedding). My Mom took photos with her digital camera. So all we spent money on was invitations, decorations, my dress/veil/shoes, wedding favors, candy, some food, the fancy punch, my bouquet, and a CD with our first song on it. Everything I delegated I'm so glad I did. The few things I decided were important to me, I'm glad I took charge. There were some other things I would've like to have delegated but too much ends up in the bride's lap, it happens. So I say ELOPE and whatever celebration you have, delegate as much as possible!
