Repurposing

So...I really want a new car.  However, this isn't the best option since my current one is paid off and still runs.  Although, I should add a disclaimer to never buy a suzuki.  Every sensor on this car has gone out at least once and you'll have to buy special tires that cost twice as much as a normal tire.

My car used to belong to my father and when I got it there was already a lot of wear to it.  In fact, daddy-o hit a groundhog and the plastic front grill was busted so he decided to glue the parts he had back to the car...lovely.  There is a lot of plastic on this car that either I've busted up or my dad busted up or something I never saw busted it up.

S also doesn't even fit in my car because he is so tall.  Even though this car is tiny, it's a great commuter car.

Sadly, buying a new car isn't really an option.  If we were going to replace one of our cars it would probably be Mr. S's since his is a lot older, the heat and AC don't really work anymore and it has more miles then mine does.

I think a lot of the reason I've never liked this car is because I never really made it much of my own.  So instead of just throwing in the towel, I'm going to give it some TLC this weekend.

This morning I bought some new decals on etsy for the back that are momma and daddy owls!  So adorable and they help with the ambiguation my vanity plates seem to cause.  I'm not going to tell you what it is since I don't want everyone in the DC area to know that's my car, but it is owl related.  Somehow, people either think it means I'm an aggressive driver or I have huge boobs...come to think of it, both are probably true...so the owl stickers will, I hope, help sort it all out.

I'm also going to pair down my VT swag.  Right now I have a huge sticker on the window and a license place cover.  There are only so many times you need to say "hey, I guraduated, go me!"  At least, when you're a working adult.  Still love my hokies, though!

This car needs to be detailed, like whoa since I eat in the car and I transport plants in the car.  It's covered in gross.  But detailing is expensive, so I'm going to attempt it myself.  I might need some help, but I'm going to do it.

So the plan is:

• Take out the front seats and vacuum the crap out of this car
• Wipe down the dashboard
• Glue some covers in the trunk back on
• Glue my key back together (it doesn't stay on a key ring very well any more because it cracked)
• Go to the car wash and then wax
• Clean all the upholstery with upholstery cleaner
• Get new windshield wiper blades
• Get a new air filter--the place I get my oil changed at has been telling me to replace this for at least 3 oil changes now.
• Organize all the cables/airpumps/emergency blankets/flashlights/first aid kit foolishness in the trunk (I bought a bin today for that, so I'm half way there)
• Organize the glove compartment and make sure the paperwork is current
• Take all the papers out of the visors
• Put in air fresheners
• Figure out how the middle seatbelt goes back together
• Take plastic bag recycling to the grocery store
• Return Library books
• Get a new key ring to top it all off

It's as easy as that. ;)
