The Proof is in the Pudding

I love pudding, but that's completely unrelated to the amazingness that is Christopher Hitchens.  Come to think of it...maybe that's what I should have talked to him about.  Definitely memorable, no?

Mr. S and I took two friends into the city to celebrate the release of Christopher Hithens' new book Hitch 22 with, none other, than the magnanamous "Hitch" himself.

The whole evening was like something out of a Southern Baptist revival.  Bodies sat poised on the edge of their pews, frantically fanning themselves, steeping back the overflow of passion for the new wave of critical thinking and athiesm.*

I was converted and dumbfounded when I actually got to meet and greet with a great mind, a political commentator ,and a professional debator...and get him to sign two of my books.  There was a limit on how many books you could get signed, which was fortunate because I don't know if I really wanted to take Why Orwell Matters and The Portable Athiest on the metro.  To heavy for even my ambitious self.

It was truly an honor to be able to see him speak in public since, just this week, he announced on this publicists website that he is canceling the rest of his book tour to fight throat cancer.  To read about that bomb drop, ABC has a nice write-up here.

This is concerning, but I'm pretty sure he's got enough hutzspah to get through chemo and then some.

*That, and it was at a synagogue, the AC was out, and it was hosted by the Center for Inquiry.
