Rude People

Do you just ever have one of those days that's completely deflated by someone being rude.

I'm having one of those types of days.

I hate rude people.

I hate when people take their frustrations out on others.

I especially hate when they bring that garbage to work.

And I hate how it rains on my parade.

It doesn't get any better because of the fact that I live in a city with very rude people. People who think that a little affluence makes them better than others or better than me. Mostly I feel this way at my retail job not my office gig. But today, it happened at my desk. They apologized for being rude, but the damage to my day was already done.

So dang it. I've got to get my smile on and look on the sunny side. There is a sunny side right? There just has to be. Cause I try so hard to be the ray of sunshine when everyone is a Debbie Downer. Happiness and peace ya'll. I really wish those were the things that made the world go round instead of money, greed, hate, and war.

So it starts with you and it starts with me. I won't let it get to me and I won't be rude back and I'll smile and take on the some of the stress that's making this person rude in the first place.

Indeed.

It Won't be Long, Yeah!

Since I've been experiencing an Across the Universe obsession lately and I get so see my honey this weekend, this song basically sums up my life right now.

Zen Moment

I finally made the leap to the aluminum waterbottle. Kroger had some Gaiam (you know the awesome people you buy yoga mats/videos from) bottles on sale. Not ridiculously on sale, but enough that I had to get one to help out my planet.

I fell in love with the tree...to be honest. Plus, no icky plastic chemicals and weird bacteria issues and this baby is completely reusable and recyclable when I'm done with it.

Vote! Vote! Vote!

(Elvgren, my favorite pin-up artist)

Tomorrow is election day and then I promise that I will leave you alone about voting for four years. Get up early and get voting, love doves. I don't want to hear any excuses that you forgot or that something came up. I will tolerate no excuses (:D). That might be a little harsh, but this is important.

I'm expecting a landslide for my candidate (day before the election and I'm finally allowing myself to feel slightly cocky...if he doesn't win I can always move to Europe), so tomorrow will be like Christmas eve where I won't sleep and I'll just have news shows playing constantly on my computer. It's like football for the socially minded. Steven has called the Electoral votes Obama 345, McCain 193. Elections are a fantasy league for peaceniks and dorks...of those two options I am both.

Since I've kept pretty neutral about all this, while really being very passionate about something and following every news-story and watching every debate and every speech since the Democratic primary (and I'm talking first Democratic debate between the like 8 original people running to be the Democratic candidate), please allow me one single remark of pure bias and extreme love: GOBAMA!

Weekly Peace

(I thought I might need to explain this one a little because I dug deep historically for it. "Am I not a man and a brother" was a common logo for the abolitionist movement and I feel the sentiment can still speak to us.)

Weekly Peace

You may have seen this guy hanging out in my sidebar, but I found he looked kind of funny with my layout. So he's going to be the weekly peace. It's funny, yes, but I also love the sentiment and I certainly hope you all do too.

This Is Love:

Just another reminder: you, citizen of the free world, have 2 days to register to vote!

If you've already registered: Absentee ballot! Pronto.

I mean... you can even register to vote while you poop, or so Sarah Silverman says...

National Hug A Vegetarian Day!

Have you hugged all your Vegetarian buddies yet?

How about all your non-Vegetarian buddies?

Either way, spread some hugs and kisses and good ole' lovin' around today--and every day.

Don't Forget to Register to Vote!

Just a reminder babettes, you all need to register to vote by October 6th in order to vote in the November election. That will be here before you know it, so hop-to-it. This might be a basic fact to point out but you can't vote without registering. If you're already registered to vote and need to sign up for your absentee ballots then go ahead and do that soon too.

Even if you aren't going to vote for my home-boy Obama--and that's ok--I still want you all to get involved with the democratic process. This election is pivotal to both sides. If nothing else you need to neutralize my vote, as well as all the votes of my friends.

I don't think that my nails are going to make it to the wedding. Today I had to do truck and I didn't have any nail polish on to make my nails a little stronger. Now they're chipping between the layers of my nails, you know, like flaking? This makes me sad because I've been putting a lot of time into them. See how long and well shaped I've been keeping them?

I've came to the realization that it's just not "me" to do my nails. I can paint them from time to time when I want to pamper myself, but I like things in my life simple and practical. Long nails are not practical. You can't close your hands into a fist, you can't type with your finger tips, you scratch yourself, your constantly filing them and re-shaping them, and re-painting them. Too much work.

However, I am so close to my goal so I don't want to cut just yet! I also think that I need to be myself, and that is something I haven't been staying true to lately. A lot of that has to do with my work situation so I'm looking into finding a new job. There is just a lot of pressure to conform and I've never been good at that. I'm a weird one who is very sensitive to prejudices around me. I just need to find some hippies to work with who don't care if I haven't shaved in a while or if I don't wear make-up or don't style my hair every day or don't do my nails or don't eat meat and who don't make me extremely self-conscious. Yeah, I like it.

All We Are Saying Is Give Peace A Chance.

A little birdie passed this youtube clip of Charlie Chaplin in a movie called "The Great Dictator" to me. I thought it was magnificent. It's what I've always thought and what I've always tried to live.

I thought that John Lennon also seemed appropriate. Here is one of my favorite songs, that I also used as the title to this post. This particular video was recorded during a war protest where he and Yoko did a "sleep in" for their honeymoon. There is some other footage of different protests where his song was sung. I ::heart:: him.
