Steven LOVED the poem. I'm glad of it because I was really worried...really, it isn't my forte. Don't be fooled. But he loved it and that's all that matters. He even made me read it to him. That alone was ground breaking!
And apparently he has a surprise for me tomorrow morning, bright and early... basically I'm not going to sleep because I'm so excited... oh so excited...
One year tomorrow... I really can't believe it. I'm in shock to be honest.
It has been such a great year. Probably the best year I've ever had on the emotional front.
The only bad thing about tomorrow is that I have to close at work... but that's kind of the story of my life. Hopefully we will still have time for a romantic evening... got to love those romantic evenings. I've thoroughly missed them!
Ugh! I'm just too happy.

I finished my sonnet! Since I'm in the library right now, and won't get home until much later, and I have tons of homework, I need to write the sonnet down in a place I can access later and just copy and paste it... so that means that all my lovely blog readers get to read my sonnet first. It turned out pretty well. I had to revise a lot of it quite a few times. There are only a few things in there that are specific to us. A lot of it has to do with love in general so I feel a lot of people can relate to it.... yeah. So, please no criticism. I feel that everything I write is always rubbish so this was an attempt to be more laid back about the whole thing in general...
So enjoy my rubbish:
It Has Been Said:
Lovers find each other within their selves.
Though separate hearts, their bond makes them one.
Through the depths of Us we have fought and delved;
The hunt for you within myself is done.
For my orphaned heart found shelter in you;
You are the home for which I think and plan.
I gladly uproot: our dreams to pursue.
Newly family: together we band.
Whateve' the distance is never too far.
With mutual affection so binding,
Many would envy a true love like ours.
For our love's high as Heav'n's height. Where shining
Orion, in the stars high up above,
Silently watches and protects our love.

I finally figured out something to do for Steven. It is something incredibly meaningful to me because it is something I'm usually terrified of attempting: I'm writing him a sonnet. The original declaration of sentiment, the fusion of form and feeling, why didn't I see it sooner?
I'm using the Shakespearean sonnet form because I find it far less complicated then the Petrarchan sonnet (the Italian form). I haven't written a sonnet in 4 years, the last time being when I had to do it for a school competition. I did win 2nd place, but it was the hardest assignment I ever did. However, it is proving much easier then my novice days of English study. I've read a great deal more poetry now, 4 years more.
I stayed up until 3 am and I got 2 stanzas and the couplet done.
1 more stanza to go and then I'm going to edit and most likely rework the whole thing.
Wills, Keats, Byron, Elizabeth and Robert, Shelley, Wordsworth, Coleridge, Yeats, Austen, Dickinson, Poe, help a sister out!
To Do:
Things I need to accomplish tomorrow or at least by Monday night:
- Finish cleaning my apartment, particularly my room cause it is a hot mess
- Take things to the goodwill. I've got loads of stuff since I cleaned out my closet today.
- Finish Ren. Lit. reading
- Finish Robinson Crusoe
- Technical Editing D&A's
- Get something together for my anniversary with Steven... seriously, worst GF ever! I have this horrible feeling that our big day is going to go by without the pomp it deserves...

The Lovie Dovies Are Hard Stuff

I'm having a very difficult time trying to get something together for my anniversary with Steven. We have both done a lot of over the top things for each other in the past year. So I want something that is going to top all that, and something that means something.
Honestly, how do you sum up the best year of your life in a gift? I already gave him the most important thing: my heart.
I'm pretty crafty so I went to Michaels hoping to find something I could make him. I spent an hour in there with no tangible results. I had lots of ideas but they all seemed pretty lame. I liked one of them but I'm still not sure about it...
I don't really want to get him something big. We're both living pretty downsized to prepare for our move cross country. So if he has to move it I don't want to get it for him. I also don't want to spend too much either. I spent a lot on him for his birthday in July.
At least, I went to Hallmark and got him a card. I didn't cry too much.
I've got 2 weeks to make it work.
Make it work, people! Make it Work!

17 Days
In 17 days I reach my 1 year anniversary with Steven. The horrible thing is that I have absolutely no idea what to get him! I'm such a bad girlfriend sometimes. We do sweet things for each other so much that I don't think that I can top any of the things I've done in the past. Really, I've got nothing.

What's going on in Amandaterra?
This is my last week of boredom...hopefully. Tomorrow at approximately 10 pm Steven gets here to help me move! So excited about that, obviously. A whole month without him has been unbearable. Friday morning my parental units roll into town at 9 am. Mom and I go to the apartment office to sign my lease at 10 am. Then moving commences! I've got the whole weekend off from work. So exciting! Steven and moving, does it get any better? I think not.
Monday was our 9 month anniversary of being a couple. Congrats to us! We're just 3 months away from the one year mark. To me it feels like we JUST started dating! Time flies when you're having fun, right? Or is it time flies when you're in love? Either statement applies. Steven surprised me with 12 red roses...again. I had to go on a little adventure to downtown Christiansburg to get them because I missed the FedEx truck. He spoils me, but I have a few tricks up my sleeve for his visit this weekend. Have no fear. I'll let you know what those tricks are later just in case he has actually started reading my blog...pictures to come.
I'm just crazy about that boy.
And I think everyone will be happy to know that he calls now. I feel completely un-neglected.
On my adventure to Christiansburg I found the Starlight Drive-in. A real life drive-in! Ever since I saw Grease as a kid I have always wanted to go to a Drive-in. Hopefully, I can drag Steven to the drive-in to see the new Indiana Jones movie that is currently playing. I'll take my camera along if we go. I have to document that! If only my life were a musical (and Steven liked musicals) then I could break out into song just like John Travolta: "Stranded at the Drive-in, branded a fool. What will they say Monday at school. Sandy, can't you see, that I'm in misery." Ok... I have to find my Grease soundtrack now...
I'm just so antsy for my honey bunny to get here. All I'm going to do is sit here and twitch until he does!

White Pizza and Roses, what more could a girl ask for?

May 2nd was our 8 month anniversary. Due to exams I completely forgot about it...oops... But for the record I would like to say that the event was marked in my planner for a few months. Unlike me during this time of year, Steven is fabulous and, like the elephants, he never forgets: ANYTHING. I came home from an exam, looked in the fridge, and there was a white pizza (my favorite) and some roses. Fabulous.
Even better then roses for no real apparent reason, I now had an excuse to get a vase that I've been drooling over at Michaels. We have a similar one at Pier 1, but it is $35, the one I got was $10. So I didn't feel that bad for splurging in a spectacular modern and chic vase, especially when it was payday.
Flowers really make Steven's bachelor room into a home, as much as I can make it without it being just ours. I really cannot wait until we can live together officially, especially when we can paint and do whatever we want to our home.
